The Port Rockingham Marina took another step towards fruition after proponent Aureus Commerical Pty Ltd signed a contract with a management company over the proposed hotel at the Wanliss Street development.
Estilo Management Australia signed a contract with Aureus last Friday to manage the 94-room hotel atop the marina development, and will soon conclude a franchise agreement for the site with an internationally renowned hotel company.
Estilo Management chief executive Clifford Olson said the company had an arrangement with several international hotel companies which would assist in the direction of final designs as well as access to significant loyalty and marketing networks worldwide.
To date, Estilo Management has held preliminary discussions with hotel companies Accor, Radisson, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, and ONYX, from Asia.
Mr Olson, an industry professional with more than 30 years of international and local hotel and resort management experience, said Estilo Management would undertake the commissioning, pre-opening and daily management of the hotel.
Aureus Commerical’s Paul Ogilvie called the project a unique coastal development that would provide a significant contribution to the local and wider community by providing a new tourism accommodation option and recreational precinct, as well as generating local employment.
“The hotel operation will in itself generate jobs for over 60 local staff,” he said.
Mr Ogilvie said the marina’s hotel development also supported the City of Rockingham’s desire to have an international hotel in the city.
Mr Olson said Estilo Management was excited to be taking on the management of what he said would become a 94-room over-water resort.
The hotel is expected to be supported by full-service food and beverage facilities as well as a day spa.
Mr Olson said he would soon make a final decision regarding which international hotel brand he would sign with, with construction anticipated to start in early 2020.
