Moddershall Oaks is situated in a plethora of green in Staffordshire
Dedicated solely to bringing you the ultimate getaway, arrive at this five star countryside spa and it’d be hard not to instantly feel calm and collected.
With the deluxe experience package, you’re greeted with an arrival drink: a Bellini with the choice of Prosecco or lemonade.
And, after sipping the cocktail, the friendly and dedicated team are on hand to make sure all guests feel at home, by giving an informative tour of the facilities.
While the spacious outdoor hot tub, dedicated spa treatment rooms, and hydrotherapy pool certainly play a significant role when it comes to your relaxation, it’s the approachable nature of the Moddershall Oaks team – and their ability to ensure visitors feel at ease throughout their stay – which really makes this spa stand out.
Our visit is centred on a trip to try out the newest facial on its treatment menu, which is available as part of the new vegan-friendly Superfood Spa Day throughout April and May.
This probiotic Elemis Superfood vegan-friendly skincare system is new to Moddershall Oaks, and leaves me questioning whether I’ll ever need to wash my face again. But, more on that later.
First on the itinerary for our overnight getaway, is a stroll around the lake and woodland which is situated beside the lakeside restaurant.
We weave our way past the outdoor wedding venue, which includes a wooden gazebo sitting beside the lake, before turning to look back at the rustic building that is Moddershall Oaks.
Hammocks hang in the woodland during periods of good weather, and, should you decide to take some time out in order to focus on ‘me-time’, a wooden cabin can be found here, housing a two-seater sofa and a selection of books to read.
While there’s spa days and spa evenings to choose from, those wishing to make a holiday of their Moddershall Oaks experience may, thanks to the luxurious on-site bedrooms.
From the master suite to deluxe or studio options, all rooms come with a soft seating area and private outdoor decking.
For those with limited mobility or requiring wheelchair access, the accessibility room has been designed with this in mind.
Should guests staying in these well-considered rooms wish, they can even relax away from the main spa in the shared outdoor hot tub – available exclusively for overnight guests.
A stroll by the lakeside is not to be missed

With an indoor swimming pool, foot reflexology baths, heated loungers, a hydrotherapy pool, the facilities here are certainly impressive.
That’s not forgetting the outdoor spa which boasts a Kelo sauna, an array of loungers, and the outdoor heated vitality spa pool which has space for 18 people.
Should you wish to work up a sweat elsewhere from the sauna, the MADE Wellness Centre awaits.

My experience was the 25-minute Elemis Superfood Facial – which left my skin feeling fresh and revitalised.
FOOD AND DRINK
From cooked breakfasts to afternoon tea to gourmet dining, the lakeside restaurant at Moddershall Oaks offers no shortage of choice.
Arrive in the evening, and peruse the menu over a drink in the bar area.
The atmosphere is more formal come evening time, with the restaurant operating a dress code after 6pm; this means there is a quite understandable policy of no spa robes in this space from this time.
Moddershall Oaks Country Spa Retreat boasts a fire which can be enjoyed from indoors – and out

And, once you’ve chosen the array of mouth-watering options, you’ll be seated at a lamp-lit table in the main restaurant.
Sourced from the local area, organic and seasonal ingredients are used by the top chefs here.
If you find yourself peckish throughout the day, there’s also the deli bar to dine in – and from wholesome baguettes to flavoursome salads, there’s plenty to choose from.
Too comfortable in the relaxation lounge? No problem. Here, the attentive team offer table service on hot drinks and deli items.
THE FINAL WORD
Whether you’re putting the world to rights in the outdoor hot tub, or engrossed in a really good book by the fire indoors, Moddershall Oaks Country Spa Retreat is the most idyllic of settings.
Consider the gourmet food, the customer service, and the range of modern facilities, and it’s not hard to see why this spa has five stars to its name.
The only downside? Eventually having to leave this rural retreat.
