Meet the winner of ‘Grow with the Show’
Market Rasen-based luxury dog product company Designed for Dogs is this year’s winner of the annual ‘Grow with the Show’.
The competition is open to young entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35, and aims to help Lincolnshire start-ups.
Designed for Dogs owner Holly Bryant initially set up the business in 2017.
Holly says: “The competition is for Lincolnshire-based businesses that are less than three year’s old and with an owner under 35 and it’s an opportunity to come and exhibit at the show. You also get business support and mentoring and some other prizes alongside. So it’s a great opportunity for a new business like me.”
Designed for Dogs will also receive a £250 cash prize, as well as expert mentoring from Sparkhouse and a discount on design services from Root Studio.
“We make really good quality dog bedding and accessories. I started the business just over two years ago. Everything we do is a reasonable price and really good quality and everything lasts well. Covers come off on our beds and are machine washable, blankets are machine washable too, so really practical and easy to care for and they look nice at the same time.
“The whole concept for the business came out of the fact that, as a dog owner, I found the choice of products for dogs was limited to low-price, low-quality items, or those luxury-ticket items that many people are priced out of. With nine million dogs in the UK, I embarked on a lot of research, testing and planning and opened the business to provide a range of practical, quality products – and now our range is continuing to expand with some exciting new launches.
“We also provide bespoke products, so you can have products made-to-measure to suit your dog and your home. Our products are all handmade in Lincolnshire and we’re incredibly proud of that!
“We are running a competition at the Lincolnshire Show and every event we are at this season where owners can come and have a picture of their dog, or dogs and owners together, then they upload it to social media tagging us and the Lincolnshire Show in. After the show we will shortlist down to ten entries then they will go to the public vote through social media – vote for your favourite photo. The winner will receive a Designed for Dogs goody bag worth more than £50 filled with treats and toys and blankets and that kind of thing.”
At the end of the year, the winner from each event will be put forward to a best in show competition, a final photo competition for a chance to win over £200 worth of goodies.
