There are people that are around for a ‘free ride’, and then there’s an actual, and literal, free ride.
Rideshare app Ola has announced that they’ll be offering all Australians a free trip to the airport on Friday, up to the value of $30.
It coincides with Ola and Virgin’s Velocity Frequent Flyer announcing that users of the rideshare app will receive points for every ride. This is one-up on the current Uber and Qantas partnership that sees Australians only rewarded points for trips to or from selected airports in the country.
To receive a free trip to the airport up to the value of $30, customers just need to book their Ola ride using the code OLAVFF this Friday, July 26.
Steve Hui, Australia’s most celebrated ‘Points Whisperer’ and CEO of iFLYflat – an Australian start-up which helps travellers manage their loyalty points, is a big fan of the partnership.
This new offer is “providing an easy way for people to fly or upgrade for free faster, by earning more Points doing the things they do all the time – like taking a rideshare,” Hui told 7NEWS.com.au.
“The number-one ‘points hack’ advice that I can give anyone, is to make sure the money you spend every-day is earning you points too”.
Hui also gave another tip where you can link your existing credit card to offers Velocity points.
“[You] can multiply the Points earned on Ola rides two times, by using a Velocity-linked credit card as their Ola payment method, effectively ‘double-dipping’ on Points,” Hui said.
